About
The regular Indian visa application requires a square JPEG between 350 × 350 and 1000 × 1000 px and between 10 and 300 KB; the guideline says an application with a photo outside this will not be accepted.
Worked example: a portrait phone photo of 3024 × 4032 px is cropped to a square around the face and resized to 600 × 600 px, comfortably inside the pixel rule. At 95% quality a 600 px photo is usually well under 300 KB, so it saves in a single pass with no scaling or padding.
